Managing User Access

Session Description: Covers best practice for expanding and restricting users' access to various features in the software.

Audience: Admins

The webinar focuses on best practices for managing user access and permissions within the Apricot platform. The presenter explains that "roles" serve as templated permission sets, which can be customized to control the features and actions available to different user groups, regardless of their specific job titles. She walks through the process of modifying the default roles that come pre-configured in Apricot, including renaming, updating permissions, and using an existing role as a template to create a new one.

The second half of the session covers the steps for assigning roles to users and programs. The presenter emphasizes that this final step is crucial, as the software does not automatically apply roles - administrators must explicitly link users to the appropriate roles and programs for the permissions to take effect. She demonstrates this workflow within the Apricot environment, showing how to search for and add users to a specific role. Attendees are encouraged to leverage Apricot's training resources, such as knowledge base articles and recorded webinars, if they have any lingering questions or need additional support as they manage user access within their live Apricot system.
