Charitable Spending Account (CSA) Extension

An overview of the Charitable Spending Account (CSA) Extension Pack, including options for account management, file specifications, donor criteria functionality, and implementation expectations.

This video provides a comprehensive overview of the Charitable Spending Account (CSA) Extension Pack available through the CyberGrants platform. The extension offers two implementation options: a one-way CSA feed that automatically imports data nightly via a secure FTP folder, or an Internal Dashboard portlet enabling administrators to manually upload files as needed. Both methods help grant donors access to their Charitable Spending Accounts and set allocations using standardized file formats containing five essential elements: Donor ID, CSA Amount, Currency, Fiscal Year, and Proposal Type ID. The extension also includes a customizable CSA balance portlet that displays program information, transaction history, and current balance details for logged-in donors.

The CSA Extension incorporates sophisticated Donor Criteria functionality that automatically determines user access based on available balances. This system calculates each donor's CSA Balance using limits tied to their account, only permitting access to Proposal Type Applications when positive balances exist and requested redemptions meet minimum gift requirements. If a donor attempts to submit an amount exceeding their Program Balance, the CSA Redemption function automatically adjusts the redemption/match amount accordingly, ensuring program integrity. These automated processes help maintain program rules while providing a seamless user experience.

Implementation of the CSA Extension Pack requires client participation in full User Acceptance Testing (UAT), with Bonterra requiring complete approval and sign-off before production deployment. Clients should note that post-implementation changes may incur additional costs, particularly modifications to the logic and criteria defined within custom procedures. Additionally, CSA Limits can only be increased throughout the year, with all allocations expiring at the end of the configured fiscal year.
