Founded in 2000, Social Solutions was a leading provider of case management software for nonprofit organizations and public sector agencies. To aid organizations in managing relationships with individual clients and delivering better outcomes, Social Solutions offered three products: Social Solutions Apricot, ETO, and Penelope. These platforms provided varying levels of support, customization, and scalability for nonprofit case management.
Starting in 2014, Social Solutions was acquired by various private equity firms before finally being purchased by Apax Partners LLP on August 4, 2021.
In a joint statement, Apax announced it had acquired both Social Solutions and EveryAction with the intent to merge them with CyberGrants, which had been acquired earlier in June of that year.

Our expanded offerings and opportunities for product innovation will create real value for our clients, improve outcomes for the people they serve, and help them accelerate lasting social change,” said then CEO of Social Solutions, Erin Mulligan Nelson.
