1BurkeGives supports rural nonprofits on Giving Tuesday

1BurkeGives is a 24-hour giving day initiative in Burke County, North Carolina, started by Burke County United Way in response to fundraising challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. So far, the initiative has helped raise over $260,000 for local nonprofits. With the help of a dedicated Giving Day site created with the assistance of Bonterra Donor Engagement’s Giving Days solution (formerly GiveGab), the initiative enables local nonprofits to engage in modern online fundraising and promotes United Way's work. The most recent event in 2022 saw 435 donors raising $105,000 collectively for 30 organizations, representing a 110% increase from the first event in 2020. Burke County United Way has also established a steering committee to ensure the initiative's continued growth and reach in the community.
