Scott Brighton is the chief executive officer of Bonterra—a social good software company focused on powering those who power social impact with Donor Engagement, Supporter Engagement, Program Management, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) tech solutions. He’s a passionate believer in “doing well by doing good”—building successful companies that can also meaningfully change the world for the better.
As CEO Scott plays an integral role in the development and execution of Bonterra's vision and strategic framework, ensuring that social good organizations have best-in-class technology to lead the industry forward. Over his two-decade career as a software industry CEO, Scott has become one of the industry’s leaders in merging complex software businesses and accelerating their growth, bringing together products, people, and cultures to amplify their impact. Previously, Scott served as President and CEO of Aurea Software. Under his leadership, Aurea acquired and integrated over a dozen companies, including such signature brands as Jive Software. His visionary, outcome-oriented approach—putting customer value first, not technology—grew Aurea at a rate of 30% annually over ten years, propelling it to the forefront of the world’s largest privately held software companies. Additionally, Scott has held notable leadership tenures with leading technology brands, serving as the CEO of Artemis International and as President of Trilogy Software. He received his MBA from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and his BS in Computer Engineering from Bucknell University. Scott currently resides in Austin, TX, and in 2023 Scott co-founded a nonprofit foundation dedicated to education with his wife, Coleen Brighton, a seasoned nonprofit executive director—demonstrating that his passion for the intersection of philanthropy and entrepreneurship extends beyond his role as CEO.
