This past election season, the Romero Institute had a crucial initiative: to assert the importance of the Native voice in politics.
With the help of VPB Connect, a phone banking tool by Bonterra Organizing (formerly EveryAction), the Romero Institute partnered with the Standing Rock tribe to recruit volunteers, manage a call center, and make over a quarter of a million phone calls for the general election.
Thanks to VPB Connect and the dedication of the Standing Rock tribe, Arizona went blue for the first time since 1996, and a record six Native American representatives were elected to the House of Representatives.
